Release Note 2025.2

We’re announcing several important updates to the Nobi system, going live on Monday, June 30, 2025. These changes make fall detection smarter, simpler, and more consistent across all care environments.

1. Checkmate Now Standard for All Residents

From June 30 onwards, Checkmate will be activated by default across all systems. There is no more need for manual activation or individual resident consent.

What is Checkmate?

Checkmate adds a second layer of fall verification: when a potential fall is detected, a short, fully blurred video clip is reviewed by a trained professional to confirm whether it was an actual fall.

What’s important to know:

  • Always active for all residents
  • Clips are blurred and use stick-figure visualization
  • Fully GDPR-compliant
  • No individual consent required

Why this matters:

  • More consistent fall detection across care locations
  • Fewer false alerts and better escalation decisions
  • Stronger privacy protection by design
  • Less manual configuration per resident

Action required
Please update any internal documentation or resident-facing materials that still describe Checkmate as optional or consent-based.

2. New Features for Smarter Escalation Handling

Alongside Checkmate, we’re introducing three new features to reduce manual work and streamline response during fall events.

2.1 Auto-pause escalation calls

After a fall is confirmed, Nobi checks every 5 minutes whether two or more people are present in the room. If that’s the case for more than one minute, further calls are paused avoiding unnecessary interruptions for staff already providing help.

(Not active in shared rooms or communal areas.)

2.2 Auto-close escalations

If no one is detected lying or sitting on the floor for five minutes after confirmation, Nobi will automatically close the escalation — helping avoid manual follow-up when assistance is already given.

2.3 Set snooze duration when closing manually

When a fall escalation is closed manually, staff can now select how long fall detection should be paused in that room. Default is 15 minutes, but longer durations can be chosen to reduce repeated alerts and ensure peace of mind.

Thanks for helping ensure a smooth rollout on Monday, June 30.
