Functions

The lamps have both warm and cold light and imitate natural sunlight (circadian light). During the day, the lamp will emit a cooler white light to keep you alert and fresh. In the evening, the light will be warmer to prepare for a good night’s sleep. By doing so, Nobi improves sleep, health and well-being.

Nobi is our basic model, designed to be used in the bedroom and lounge. Nobi is a pendant lamp that can monitor spaces up to 10 m x 10 m. Nobita, Nobi’s little sister, was specifically designed for smaller rooms (5 m x 5 m). This pendant lamp is more compact and works with sensors. It’s suitable for damp rooms such as bathrooms and kitchens. Both can detect a fall, but only Nobi can produce an abstract image.

The mission of Nobi is to make sure residents can live a longer and happier life in an environment that feels like home. For now, Nobi mainly focuses on detecting falls. But in the future, it would like to play a role in proactively detecting patterns that could result in a fall or even age-related illnesses.

What does Nobi monitor at your place?
  • Fall prevention
Nobi will detect whether you are leaving your bed at night. At that moment the lights will turn on so you don’t get disoriented and have clear sight.

  • Recognise patterns
When Nobi notices that you are not moving or responding for an extended period, your contacts will receive an alert message. When you have a sudden change in habits like number of toilet visits, Nobi can alert your trusted contacts.

Installation & uses

To make the most of Nobi’s technology, your contacts should own a smartphone. If you fall, they will be notified via the app. Depending on your privacy settings, they will also see an abstract image of your situation.

The Nobi pendant lamp can monitor a space of up to 10 m x 10 m. The Nobita ceiling lamp can manage 5 m x 5 m rooms.

The installation of our Nobi smart lamp only takes about an hour.

What do you need to install a Nobi lamp?

You only need a drill and a screwdriver to install Nobi. Simply replace the existing pendant lamp with Nobi, as you would any other lamp. The only other thing you need to do is fix a little block behind the light switch so that Nobi remains connected to the electricity at all times. This allows you to switch the light on and off, just like you would ordinarily, without shutting off the fall detection feature.

To make the Nobi lamp functional, you need electricity and a working WiFi connection.

Nobi smart lamp

The Nobi lamp replaces your existing light fixture, and you use your existing light switch to turn the light on and off. You don’t need to do anything special; the lamp will always work.

You can configure the Nobi app with an unlimited list of trusted contacts. When needed, they will automatically be alerted. In the case of residential care centres or assisted living facilities, caregivers will be the ones to receive a notification.

How does the Nobi smart lamp work?

Nobi is an AI-driven, self-learning lamp that continuously optimises its own processes. During the ‘learning phase’, the lamp learns about its environment to better understand when you are lying on your bed, sitting at the table or when a fall has occurred. In the event of a fall during the learning phase, an alarm will not be sounded. Nobi will analyse how and why the fall occurred. It goes without saying that the closest trusted person will be contacted if this should happen.

The powerful processor inside the lamp allows Nobi to analyse images and detect the position of a body. Based on this, Nobi immediately knows when it’s dealing with a fall. The image processing happens in the lamp itself, and they don’t have to be analysed elsewhere. That way, your privacy remains guaranteed.

Nobi is a smart lamp that focuses on detecting a fall and ensuring that help is quickly provided by alerting one of your designated contacts. Nobi wants to make it possible for as many older adults as possible to keep living in a homely, familiar environment where they feel safe.

Nobi smart lamps also efficiently support nursing staff and allow them to focus all their attention on ensuring that older adults live a happy and comfortable life. After all, this gives their job meaning. Nobi smart lamps give older adults and their relatives peace of mind while improving care and communication.

RCC

Nobi is meant for older adults who live alone since they don’t have anyone living in the house who can provide immediate help. Nobi ensures that help can arrive quickly after a fall. This way, the consequential damage is kept to a minimum.

The duration of the learning phase depends on the situation and the environment but on average, it takes two weeks. In this phase, the lamp familiarises itself with the room and the resident’s habits and routines.

Nobi can contribute to relieving the pressure on nursing staff. During the night, for instance, when only a few nurses are available to care for an entire residential care centre, Nobi can help keep an eye on the residents who get out of bed and warn the staff in the event of a fall.

The way these rooms are designed and furnished is usually quite simple and straightforward. The living space and kitchen are often combined, as are the bathroom and toilet. As a result, with only one Nobi lamp and one Nobita, we can test our smart lamps to their full potential. Our smart lamps are being trained intensively so that they will be able to monitor more complex spaces, such as those in more classic homes.

After the testing phase, Nobi will offer you the option to leave the lamps where they are at a reduced price. Do contact us if you are interested in this offer.

Pattern recognition allows Nobi to establish when a resident is exhibiting behaviour that is out of the ordinary. Nobi is not a medical instrument; a doctor will always need to assess the situation.

Safety

The Nobi lamps are equipped with infrared LEDs and can detect a fall (or burglary) even in complete darkness.

In the event of a fall, Nobi will notify your trusted contacts. These contacts are sent a link that allows them to unlock the door for the next four hours. They can also do this remotely so that help be let in.

When a fall occurs, Nobi will first ask if you have fallen. When you answer 'yes' or if you don't respond, Nobi will contact your trusted contacts. You can set up this list of contacts yourself.

If none of your trusted contacts respond, Nobi will connect you to an emergency call center where they will ensure that help is sent.

What Nobi detects isn’t sent to the cloud – unless it involves a fall. Nobi is fitted with a powerful processor that allows the lamp to analyse images. Only images that indicate a possible fall are passed on to assigned contacts. Permission to share images in case of emergency is granted by the resident. The resident also chooses who has access to their information.

All the information recorded by Nobi is securely stored in our cloud, where it remains the resident’s property. Nobi uses the data to learn patterns, so it can raise the alarm when those patterns start to differ. It’s important to know that images are not saved. Nobi focuses on patterns, so it can use them to formulate algorithms. Sleep patterns are a good example.
