Dudbrook House with Nobi:

Technology that enhances safety and care
A new standard in care

Falls are one of the greatest risks in senior living, especially for residents living with dementia. To address this challenge, Dudbrook House in Essex partnered with the County Council to equip 150 rooms with Nobi Smart Lights, keeping residents safe while protecting their independence.

The results with Nobi Smart Lights speak for themselves:

41% fewer
falls

Fall risk dropped from 8.7 to 5.1 falls per 1,000 resident-days (RD), a 41% decrease, even from an already low baseline.

70% faster interventions*

Average time-to-assist improved from 12 minutes 28 seconds to just 3 minutes 47 seconds, a 70% reduction.

long lies

Previously, 14.2% of falls resulted in long-lie incidents (>30 min), equivalent to ~1.2 per 1,000 RD. After activation, zero long-lie incidents were recorded across 10,877 resident-days.

“Nobi makes us feel more in control. I don’t know how we managed before."

- Jo Moss, Team Leader, Dudbrook House

The story behind the results

A long lie — being left on the floor for more than an hour — raises mortality risk by over 50%.

Before Nobi, staff at Dudbrook House relied on mats and hourly checks: reactive measures that often led to late interventions, unnecessary hospital transfers, and added pressure on carers.

With Nobi Smart Lights installed in every room, long lies have been eliminated completely.

The system integrates seamlessly into daily routines, giving staff confidence, safeguarding residents’ independence, and reassuring families.

Voices from the floor and family

“I never have to worry about my mum now. I know that she’s safe with Nobi.”

 Beverley Buckingham, family member

“ Staffing pressure is reduced dramatically.”

Claire Watson, Director, St Michaels Homes Ltd

Dudbrook House proves that safety and independence can go hand in hand. With Nobi, residents live with confidence, families feel reassured, and staff are free to focus on what matters most: delivering truly dignified care.
